Campbell and White to Top City Jobs

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Just a week after the election of Richard “R.J.” Berry as Albuquerque mayor he announced two top jobs for his administration that takes office December 1.

David Campbell, right, seen here election night talking with Berry, will be appointed chief administrative officer.

Campbell has a long history working in city hall dating back to when he worked for Harry Kenny’s second term as mayor in 1981.

He served as City Attorney for Mayor Louis Saavadra’s 1989-1993 term.

Since then he has represented numerous clients through the city’s zoning process.

Sheriff Darren White is appointed as an assistant chief administrative officer, chief public safety officer.

White will resign his elected position with 13 months remaining in office.

White is a former Houston, Texas and Albuquerque Police officer. He served five years as the State Director of Public Safety for Gov. Gary Johnson starting in 1995. He was then a crime reporter for KRQE TV before being twice elected to serve as Bernalillo County Sheriff staring in 2003.

So what’s wrong with this picture?
