What's wrong with this picture?
Former City Commissioner Charles E. Barnhart, is seen here, right, at a press conference about a 1971 riot at Roosevelt Park, with Chief of Police Don Byrd, center and City Manager Richard Wilson trying to calm the citizenry.
Barnhart, who served one term on the city commission from 1967 to 1971, died June 28, after a short illness. He was 85.
He was president of the commission for two years. At the time the office was considered the equivalent of mayor.
Barnhart was a native of Santa Rosa, N.M. and an engineer and lawyer.
He was the father of former Metropolitan Court Judge Charles R. Barnhart.
